Welcome to the Interviews page, to read interviews that I have had recently or previous author interview that I did for the site, go to the bottom of the page and click on the link.

I will be interviewing an author or editor here every month, this month I interviewed talented author Cat Marsters.

Kyla: Welcome, Cat. Thank you for agreeing to be interviewed by me. =) Can you tell us about your latest release?

Cat: My latest release is called Unholy Trinity and it's the third in the Sundown International series for Changeling Press. It's set in Rome, and is the story of Paige, a newly turned vampire, and the two men in her life: her best friend, Jamie, and the vampire who sired her, Rafa. Jamie's been in love with Paige forever, but it's Rafa who has a hold over her. Luckily for Paige, she gets both of them.

Kyla: Tell us what drew you to write erotic romance. Would you like to try something different with your writing? If you would, what would that be?

Cat: You know, it was a friend of mine who got me into erotic romance. She was starting to write it, and I was her critique partner so I read her work, and started reading other books too, and it wasn't long before I tried my own hand at it. As for doing something different, I'm lucky because I write in two completely different genres under two different names, so I can do something different if I want!

Kyla: Would you like to tell us what you are working on just now? And please tell us about your writing under your other identity.

Cat: Right now I'm working on the next Sundown book. It's called Maneater and it's about a Greek siren who's trapped and held in a harem of paranormal beings. Needless to say, she's not happy with that arrangement! It'll be out in March from Changeling.

My other identity is Kate Johnson, and under that name I write chick-lit mystery. It's great fun to do, very silly, and almost a complete change from paranormal erotica! I have a series about a fantastically inept spy called Sophie, who tends to save the day mostly by accident. The first book, I, Spy?, is out on 6th March from Samhain Publishing.

Kyla: You write for a few publishers at present, how do you choose which story fits best with a publisher?

Cat: Well, I have a couple of series running at the moment, so naturally the next book in the series will go with the same publisher. And each publisher is slightly different: for example with Changeling I'm writing shorter books, which is nice; but if I want to write something longer, that's better placed with Ellora's Cave. And the non-erotic books I can submit to Samhain. It's nice, because so far I have a home for all the books I want to write.

Kyla: Tell us who your favourite authors are, do you have any recommendations about books we just have to read?

Cat: Oh, I have hundreds! My favourite erotic authors are Sierra Dafoe, Amelia Elias, and Dakota Cassidy. Outside of erotica, I'm a big Jennifer Crusie fan, and I love Sherrilyn Kenyon's, Dark Hunter books. The author I most want to be when I grow up is Terry Pratchett: I just worship everything he does. I'm a huge Discworld geek! I also love British authors Sarah Mason and Jill Mansell, who write very funny romantic comedy. Most recently I've been reading Linnea Sinclair who writes sci-fi romance: I'm looking forward to her next book, Games of Command.

Kyla: Please tell us where we can purchase your fabulous books and where we can find out all about your latest news.

Cat: The Sundown books are available from Changeling Press. I have a full-length book with Ellora's Cave, and my chick-lit mysteries will be forthcoming from Samhain.

My two websites are www.catmarsters.com and www.katejohnson.co.uk and I put out a monthly newsletter which you can subscribe to here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/catmarsters/join The heroine of my chick-lit mysteries has her own MySpace at: www.myspace.com/sophiesuperspy.

Thank you to Cat for her interview answers. Look out for an interview with another great author on 14th March.

Watch this space for further announcements of who will be interviewed next.
