Welcome to the Interviews page, to read interviews I have had recently go to the bottom of the page and click on the link. I will be interviewing an author or editor every month, so look out for announcements of who will be featured here. This month I interviewed talented author Therese MacFarland.

Kyla: Welcome, Therese. Thank you for agreeing to be interviewed by me. =) Can you tell us about your latest release?

Therese: Hi Kyla, thanks for letting me ramble on about my books! I'm more interested in hearing about your next release, but, hey, this is my interview, so I'd better get to it. Dark Prince of Anfall, the sequel to The Princes of Anfall came out recently. As sequels go, I think it also stands alone as a story. But it's about Sennsarin, the shapeshifting elf prince (think big sleek sexy dark cat). It's a very complicated book, or so I've heard, and it contains my first ménage LOL. I heard just a few days ago that The Princes of Anfall will go to print in the spring, so you can imagine how excited I am about that! I'm offering a deal in which anyone buying one of my Anfall books can get two free books of mine. Anyone buying both can get three freebies! How generous am I? LOL

Kyla: You have written in a number of sub-genres, which would you say you prefer to write in and why?

Therese: I wish I could answer that, because it might give me some better direction. I like them all. I really enjoy fantasy laced with heavy, heavy doses of humor. I also like contemporaries with paranormal elephants, as my niece says. The word element simply doesn't make much sense to her. I just write what moves me and hopefully, it will move a publisher too!

Kyla: Would you like to tell us what you are working on just now?

Therese: Are you sitting down? I'll try to make it short. I'm writing a hot novella for Triskelion's Sister O line for a gods and goddesses anthology. It's called The Biggest Kahuna, and believe it or not, it's about a Hawaiian shapeshifting shark god! I'm completing an erotic novella for eXtasy called Knight Moves-think funny, hot hot hot, and well, funny. I'm then turning to a rewrite of a book called Lords of Ch'i, a longer fantasy with the sexiest guy-ooh la la, love that one. Let's see, next up, probably edits for The Princes of Anfall for spring print would be my guess. Then I'm likely to rewrite my very first release, Mayan Nights. The rights to that book will come back to me, and I'm anxious to spice it up, lengthen it, deepen it, and hold onto your hats, knock folks dead with it. In other words, apply what I've learned in the last year to my first book, including all the sex I'm now comfortable writing! I've started another sexy Mayan book, this time with a fabulous archaeologist pair, also in the Yucatan peninsula. That will all probably take me to Christmas, with the full time job and all!

Kyla: You have a very successful yahoo loop, can you tell us more about it please?

Therese: Oh, what a blast! I never, ever expected that to take off the way it did. We're over three hundred members now, and growing weekly. I had a choice to make when I started it-make it all about me, and small, or open it up to other authors to post excerpts. I'm glad I made choice #2, because it's been wonderful. We've had author weeks, as you know, publisher weeks, contests galore, and I especially like our contests that help aspiring writers. We also pulled together an anthology for eXtasy based on the Seven Ancient Wonders, and I wrote the prologue for that. I hope we can give one unpublished writer a chance with those anthologies if we can keep it up. I don't allow promos, but I allow everyone to post excerpts. Cynnara Tregarth is my partner in crime there, and I can always count on her to spice things up. We recently had an incredibly successful Loose ID week. Phew. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/theresemacfarland

Kyla: Tell us who your favourite authors are, do you have any recommendations about books we just have to read?

Therese: Oh, that's so tough. I do like the books by my fellow eXtasy and Triskelion authors, but I'm afraid to leave anyone out, so I won't mention those. Mainstream? Elizabeth Lowell, hands down. She has an edge I like. I'm not a huge vampire/shapeshifter fan, so I'm a little out of step with the current NY trends. And yes, I love Nora Roberts, no matter what anyone says, I think she's an extraordinary talent and never get bored by her. My true love is classic fantasy, though. My favourite author is fantasy satirist Terry Pratchett-pure genius.

Kyla: Please tell us where we can purchase your fabulous books and where we can find out all about your latest news.

Therese: My website http://www.theresemacfarland.com lists all my books with links to purchase, a monthly contest, and a link to my husband's wonderful photography site. I hope folks will stop by and enter my contest, sign my guestbook! Thanks, Kyla! xoxoxo

Thank you to Terry for her interview answers. Look out for an interview with Changeling Press editor, Maryam Salim in October.

Watch this space for further announcements of who will be interviewed next.
